Get Your Boiler Prepared For Cold Winter Weather

seasonal maintenance greensPrepare Yourself! It is currently that time when you'll want to get your boilers back on-line. Indeed, winter's here and so are the demands put on your boilers.

To ensure that you are working safely and at top effectiveness our recommendation is that you, or a qualified boiler service technician from Green's Appliance, Heating, and Cooling, open your boiler for an examination. Clean the fireside and waterside. If you've not had one of our guys come out, give us a call at 515-323-0680 so that we can take a look.

Whenever you reassemble your boiler use new gaskets. Also clean and examine your low water cutoff. Examine all safety devices, like a pop test on the safety relief valves, flame safeguard checks, and a leak test on safety shut-off valves.

This is a checklist of points to inspect, clean, repair or replace as needed:

•   All refractory
•   Replace all fireside gaskets
•   Refractory baffle gaskets
•   Burner gaskets
•   Handhole gaskets
